WANDA CHROME AND THE LEATHER PHARAOHS (USA)

The band Wanda Chrome & Leather Pharaohs, "the craziest band from Milwaukee" was formed in 1992. They have sharpened their guitar rock`n`roll punk on american concert stages and clubs with bands like Wayne Kramer, Jeff Dahl, The Humpers, Deadbolt, Peter & The Test Tube Babies. They have recorded a few 7" for various records (Splunge, Get Hip), their first LP "Eleven...The Hard Way" (Subway Records) was published in 1995. The record was recorded live (and Wanda Chrome live is the real Wanda Chrome & The Leather Pharaohs) on a concert in Quarters Rock Palace in their hometown, Milwaukee. They have also preserved the tradition of recording live albums on their second album "Dangerous Times" which was published in 1997 by a German record label Subway Records. With the record "Dangerous Times" the trio finally confirmed that it masters the whole explosion of directness and passion. We musn`t overlook the more sophisticated and thoughtful upgrade of rock'n'roll history that sets Wanda Chrome & The Leather Pharaohs side by side to such a band as Dead Moon. "Dangerous Times" also reveals their roots - they have paid tribute to three legends of american rock - Link Wray (with the song Rumble), Rocky Ericson or Thirteen Floor Elevator (You're gonna miss me) and Ramones (Commando). With the good influences by MC 5, Stooges, Dictators, Johnny Thunders, Ramones... and the older american rockers (Bo Didley, Chuck Berry,...), Wanda Chrome & Leather Pharaohs continues and modernizes the genuine rock'n'roll tradition.
