Out Cold formed in late 1989 in a place called Dracut, a nondescript 'burb on the New Hampshire border some 30 miles north of Boston. The original line up was Kevin (vocals), Fred (guitar), Mark (bass), and John (drums). Heavily influenced by the punk and hardcore bands of the late-'70s/early-'80s, we saw all our favorite groups either break up or "progress" into shitsville. It was with this distaste for the contemporary music scene that we formed the band. Complete misfits in a scene comprised almost exclusively of thrash metal and second-rate indie/grunge, we released our first album and some singles and went largely unnoticed. Kevin left in 1994. Mark moved to vocals and a permanent bass player wasn't found until after we recorded our second album, the first of a string released by Kangaroo Records in the Netherlands. Many line-up changes were endured in the following years, the most significant of which was the departure of Fred in 1997. The band actually broke up at this point and the two remaining founding members, Mark & John, started a new band called Alien Blood Transfusion. Shortly after, however, Kangaroo Records asked us to do a final tour in Europe. We quickly enlisted new members and this ended up resuscitating the band. The year 2000 saw a second European tour and a Japanese tour as well. In 2001 we released our 5th studio album and did a small tour of Iceland and the UK. A west coast tour (our first US tour) is scheduled for the first half of November 2002 and another European tour in January 2003.
