MKNZ Ilirska Bistrica, Tuesday, 26.09.2000:

BANE (USA)

Bane started in November 1995 as a project of Converge guitarist Aaron Dalbec and his friend Aaron Bedard.

In December of that year they went into the studio with Converge drummer Damon Bellorado and put out a five song demo tape with help from Ben Chuset and Chris Cardone (both had been involved with the project in the past). The demo received a strong response in and round Massachusetts. A short time later they grabbed up the young and eager Pete Chilton to play bass.
In February 1996 Bane played their first show. It was the espresso bar in Worcester with Converge and Cast Iron Hike. Kurt Ballou (Converge) filled in on second guitar. The show went really well and afterwards the band was left with a feeling that something special was going on.
At that time in Massachusetts, there was a lack of straight-up hardcore bands. Bane were determined to stay friendly and enthusiastic, and most importantly to try to bring a sense of fun back to the hardcore community they had been involved with for so long.
After playing for a while with Kurt, they finally found Zachary Jordan, the dreamy blond metalhead from Relm. Zach had been a supporter of Bane since the start and went more crazy live than anyone they had seen. He fit like a glove.
In May of 1996, the newly-finalized lineup went into the studio to record the debut three-song 7". It was released on Aaron Dalbec`s own label, Life Records, and the band played out as often as possible throughout `96 and `97.
In April 1997 Bane hit the studio and recorded their second three-song 7" "Free To Think, Free To Be" also on Life. The hardcore scene had grown greatly since Bane`s beginning, with many bands and a huge amount of kids booking and supporting shows, as well as doing the large number of things to keep a hardcore scene healthy, happy and growing strong. Bane remained proud to be involved with such good days.
In September 1997 Damon Belladoro decided to leave the band. It was a scary time, but he left on the best of terms and everyone understood and respected his reasons for moving on. Enter Ben Chused, drummer for Ten Yard Fight and a longtime friend and supporter of Bane. Ben stepped in in the band`s time of need and thanks to his enthusiastic nature and strong love of hardcore Bane literally did not miss a beat. Ben stayed with the band until they were ready to tour. At that time, Ben left for tour with TYF and Bane found Nick Branigan to handle drumming duties.
August of 1998 brought the release of the three-song "Holding This Moment" 7" on Equal Vision Records. They included the previous two 7"s on the CD version, and hooked up a national tour with labelmates Saves The Day to support the release. November of 1999 marks the release of their first-ever full lenght album "It All Comes Down To This", and a national co-headlining tour with Grade.
Bane`s current line-up is: Aaron Bedard, vocals / Zachary Jordan, guitar / Pete Chilton, bass / Aaron Dalbec, guitar / Nick Branigan, drums
